Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner's (PWP) to join City Health Care Partnership's Specialist Weight Management Team. The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team, assessing and providing evidence-based treatment for obese patients who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. It is essential that you can communicate sensitively and effectively, are non-judgmental and compassionate, and can work effectively within an MDT. Applicants must also be BABCP registered.
Main duties of the job
The role will include psychological assessment and delivery of evidence-based step 2 CBT based treatment for obese patients who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. Onward referral to local Talk Therapy or Secondary Mental Health Services will also be a key part of the job.The role will include working as part of an MDT to provide appropriate, evidence based treatment plans to support patients to lose weight.
The successful applicant will be proactive in their own development and will engage in peer and individual supervision. Appropriate training, support, and supervision will be provided to develop skills and support the maintenance of BABCP registration.
You will be based in the vibrant, cultural city of Hull which is continuing to thrive and grow after being awarded City of Culture in 2017. The post will be based at Marfleet Health Centre in Hull, however the successful applicant will also be expected to work from various other bases across the city.

  • PWP qualification with an IAPT accredited PWP Training Course or Qualified Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant Primary Care experiences and competences as required
  • Registered with BABCP or BPS, or prepared to work towards registration.
Desirable
  • IAPT accredited PWP supervisor
  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
  • Psychology or other health related postgraduate/undergraduate degree.
