SEI York? is based in the attractive Environment building at the University of York, and has around 55 employees. The centre has a broad research profile covering five main research areas: air quality and climate change; citizen science; critical environmental governance; sustainable consumption and production, and environmental health and wellbeing. We have a strong academic track record as well as an international reputation of producing highly credible evidence-based science policy research.

The role

As a Public Engagement Coordinator, you will support an exciting new citizen science project, Action for Quality Aquatic environments (AQuA?), funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), in which members of the public will carry out monitoring of water quality in Yorkshire's rivers and lakes. In this role, your time will be split between office-based and field work, and you will be part of our Citizen Science Research Group, which currently has around 10 staff and PhD students.



As Public Engagement Coordinator, your primary responsibilities will include:


Engaging with project volunteers (citizen scientists) both in person and online, using a variety of different channels Supporting project relationship building with community groups, specifically currently under-represented groups Supporting delivery of volunteer training Assisting with the development of volunteer facing communications assets for the project
