Position Overview
As a Purchase Ledger & Accounts Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our purchase ledger and cashing up. Your attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the success of our finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice processing - accurately receive, verify and process incoming invoices
Account reconciliation - make sure supplier statements align with purchase ledger to maintain financial order
Statement verification - cross-verify supplier statements and resolve discrepancies swiftly
Record maintenance - maintain a well organised ledger where all supplier transactions are accurately recorded
Payment queries - efficiently handle supplier payment queries to ensure positive company relations
Management of weekly and monthly payment runs
Daily cashing up and banking of all cash and cheque receipts from the Company's branches
Liaise with the branches over any cashing up discrepancies
Assist with other ad hoc tasks and projects within the finance department
Qualifications / experience
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a finance or accounts payable setting
Strong understanding of accounting principles and purchase ledger processes
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Logical thinking
Education
AAT/book keeping qualification would be advantageous but not essential
