Job Description

Beacon are looking to recruit an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to work as part of our Accounts department within the fast moving telecoms sector.

In this Team your role will be to ensure that all supplier invoices are accurately recorded, processed, and paid in a timely manner. The Purchase Ledger Clerk plays a key role in managing the company's accounts payable function and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

You would be joining a busy mobile telecom infrastructure company, with offices throughout the UK, currently employing over 200 people. This role would be based at our head office in Tavistock, with ample free car parking on site.

Key Responsibilities:



Process a high volume of purchase invoices using accounting software (e.g., Sage) Match, batch, and code invoices accurately Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies Prepare BACS payment runs Monitor and manage the purchase ledger inbox Maintain accurate records and ensure proper filing of documents Assist with month-end procedures, including accruals and prepayments Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers regarding invoice queries Ensure compliance with company policies and VAT regulations Support wider finance team as required

Key Skills and Competencies:



Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organisational and time management skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software Numerate with a good understanding of basic accounting principles

Qualifications and Experience:



Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role (typically 1-2 years minimum) Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) Knowledge of UK VAT rules (desirable) AAT qualification (or working towards) is beneficial but not essential
