Due to an internal promotion, my client is seeking an additional Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their team. This position is suitable for somebody looking to build upon their current Purchase Ledger experience OR somebody from an administrative background keen to take the first steps into an accounting career. Training can be provided; however, you will need a positive, proactive, and team-focused mentality with a desire to learn and develop within this role and business.

:

  • Process supplier invoices, ensuring they are matched to the correct cost centres.
  • Ensure all overhead invoices are authorised and coded to the correct nominal codes and finance period.
  • Querying supplier invoice discrepancies with relevant departments to ensure that any issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and liaise with suppliers in relation to any discrepancies or to request copy invoices as required.
  • Carry out weekly aged creditor reports, ensuring all debit balances are cleared regularly.
  • Ensure all suppliers are paid accurately and within agreed terms, issuing supplier remittances with payments.
  • Liaise with the Sales Ledger Team to raise contras between the ledgers as required.
  • Ensure all month end deadlines and process are met.
  • Ensure that necessary checks are made prior to setting up new suppliers and that all information is accurate.
  • Support continual systems, controls, and process improvements.
  • Support the Purchase Ledger Manager with any additional duties as required, including data analysis.
Requirements:
  • A desire to learn or develop within a Purchase Ledger career path.
  • A positive, motivated \xe2\x80\x98can-do\xe2\x80\x99 attitude to tasks and duties.
  • The ability to develop trust and respect from colleagues across the organisation.
  • The ability to identify discrepancies and respond in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, question and express thoughts and information clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise workflow.
  • Previous purchase ledger/ administration experience is highly advantageous although graduates/ people looking to take a first step into a finance role will be considered.
  • Excellent team working capabilities with the ability to also work under own initiative.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong IT and Excel skills
