From our sites in Biggleswade and Wilden, we are ideally placed to serve projects across the region. We will be moving to a new site in MK44 2JZ, a vehicle is required due to the remote location.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Purchaser to join our team, with a strong background in procurement within the steel or construction industry. This is a hands-on role where you'll also support the smooth running of our production operations--managing supplier relationships, sourcing materials, scheduling deliveries, and ensuring compliance. You'll be a vital link between our production, design, and installation teams, helping projects run on time, on budget, and to exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities

Source and purchase materials for structural and architectural steel projects, ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships. Coordinate material deliveries, stock control, and inventory management. Arrange external processing services, such as galvanising and powder coating. Prepare production schedules in line with project deadlines. Maintain UKCA compliance for purchased products and fabrication processes. Liaise with the Workshop Foreman to ensure tools and materials are available when needed. Track budgets relating to materials and workshop operations. Report on daily production progress, flagging any risks or delays.

About You

Proven experience in purchasing, ideally within the steel fabrication or construction industry. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Knowledge of steel grades, fabrication processes, and finishing services is advantageous. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Confident working under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Understanding of UKCA/CE compliance requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using scheduling or inventory software.
