Rollins and Sons (London) Ltd are seeking an experienced and proactive
Purchasing and Planning Manager
to lead the strategic procurement, inventory management, and supply planning processes. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the availability of high-quality tools while optimising costs, lead times, and supplier performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for process improvement within a fast-paced distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Supplier Management
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships across the India, US, China and beyond.
Work within a team to source new suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure best value in terms of price, quality, and delivery.
Manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and service levels.
Inventory Planning
Forecast product demand in collaboration with sales and operations teams to ensure stock availability and avoid overstocking.
Monitor and analyse inventory levels, turnover rates, and obsolescence to support efficient stockholding.
Manage the production department's workflow to ensure manufactured products have sufficient inventory.
Implement and manage inventory control strategies aligned with company goals.
Supply Chain Coordination
Collaborate closely with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth inbound and outbound flow of goods.
Coordinate with international shipping and customs partners to manage lead times and import processes effectively.
Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 standards in all purchasing and planning activities.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance purchasing and planning efficiency.
Drive cost-reduction initiatives without compromising on quality or customer satisfaction.
Import Administration
Coordinate and manage the logistics for import deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods
Liaising with shipping companies to bring suppliers product into our facility
Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, including customs forms, import/export declarations, and any other necessary compliance paperwork
Ensure all import operations comply with relevant laws and regulations
Work closely with our Import/Export Manager to ensure the department runs smoothly and is constantly updated
The successful candidate will also be part of the management team at our Wigan facility, and will involve undertaking general day to day management activities.
Skills and Experience Required:
Proven experience in a similar role within purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally in the distribution sector or tools industry.
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Familiarity with international procurement and shipping regulations.
Proficiency in using stock management and forecasting software (experience with Microsoft Navision or similar systems is essential)
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and ability to interpret data to inform decisions.
Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple task and priorities.
Previous experience of import and export preferred.
