As part of our continued growth and focus on operational excellence, we're seeking a commercially driven Purchasing & Procurement Manager to manage all direct and indirect purchasing across the business -- a spend of over 10 million annually across 30+ core suppliers.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for managing and optimising the full procurement lifecycle -- from strategic sourcing and supplier management to cost control and contract negotiation. The role includes accountability for all raw materials, international sourcing, contract supply items, and overhead costs, ensuring continuity of supply, quality assurance, and bottom-line cost effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and implement the full procurement strategy for all direct and indirect purchasing categories.
Manage total spend of over 10 million per annum across a diverse and critical supplier base (30+ core vendors).
Oversee procurement and supplier relationships for:
Hardware sourced overseas (predominantly China) including hinges, runners, and fixings.
Bought-in drawer fronts for furniture ranges.
White goods for contract kitchen projects.
Soft furnishings for contract bedrooms and accommodation.
Loose furnishings including chairs, bedsides, and accessories for contract clients.
Core raw materials such as board (MFC), glue, edge banding, and foils.
Manage all indirect/factory purchasing, including:
Electricity, diesel, fleet servicing, repairs and maintenance
Property leases, business rates, waste services, and site upkeep
Optimise supplier terms and contract structures to drive value, quality, and service level improvements.
Coordinate with overseas suppliers and freight partners to manage lead times, customs clearance, and landed costs.
Collaborate with Production, Logistics, Sales, and Finance teams to forecast demand and ensure material availability.
Ensure suppliers have all the relevant environmental, safety, compliance and insurance requirements
Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP/MRP systems and support Finance with budget ownership, accruals, and variance reporting.
Implement cost reduction initiatives and sustainability improvements within the procurement function.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior procurement or purchasing role within a manufacturing environment -- furniture or contract interiors experience desirable.
Strong knowledge of international procurement, especially China-based sourcing and import logistics.
Experience with contract supply purchasing (kitchens, soft furnishings, white goods).
Proven ability to manage large budgets and negotiate high-value supplier contracts.
Excellent analytical and commercial acumen with a strong grasp of cost control and forecasting.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
CIPS qualification preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
Excellent communicator and team player with a hands-on, pragmatic approach.
