Required / Essential Qualifications, Experience and Attributes



Degree level (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field CIPS qualified Skilled and experienced negotiator at all levels Extensive relevant professional experience in a purchasing and supply chain related role, ideally with experience of working within both disciplines. Ideally professional experience in a management role, demonstrating an ability to manage people and relationships even in situations with conflicts or competing priorities. Hands-on working mentality but comfortable interacting at management level. Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and ambition to be part of a successful team. Proven experience in change management and setting up and managing high performing local self-sufficient and self-covering operational supply chain teams Courage and curiosity to challenge (critical thinker), results-focused. Drive, Determination and Resilience and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Experience of implementing and using SAP A flexible approach to work in line with business requirements Excellent communication skills including fluency in English (both written and oral) Project management / lead experience There will be a requirement to travel globally occasionally hence flexibility is a prerequisite of the role.

Excellence in the use of MS office products Budgeting, cost control and knowledge of accounting principles Experience in working in an organisation, spanning multiple geographies and cultures

Working integrally with other management team members, the role is responsible for all supply chain and purchasing functions at the Widnes site. The Supply Chain and Purchasing team includes responsibility for Planning, Distribution, and Purchasing (currently 8FTE) with 2 direct reports.
Additionally, the role may take some responsibility for group wide projects and as such, some UK and overseas travel will be necessary.

Key Accountabilities



Leads, directs and controls and as necessary executes all Widnes site supply chain operations including purchasing, distribution and production planning. Ensures timely and cost-efficient fulfillment of all BYK UK customer and intercompany demand according to agreed S&OP plans by closely cooperating with other management team members and external stake holders. Responsible for the customs and export process. Monitors operational execution and resolves critical issues to ensure that agreed service levels are met or exceeded Supports overall operating excellence by d riving cost, efficiency and service level improvement plans. Personally purchases raw materials, utilities, major capital items and other significant goods and services. Collaborate with Engineering Stores in the purchasing of engineering goods and services as well as lower value items. Owns and ensures implementation and development of site purchasing and supply chain processes. Develop the knowledge, skills and effectiveness of both the SCM team collectively and its individual members. Leads or supports various purchasing and supply chain projects within the wider BYK/ALTANA group and facilitates the implementation of such projects on the local level. Delivers coordination and communication on supply chain and purchasing matters across the business, including sites in other parts of the BYK group. Leadership - the Supply Chain and Purchasing Manager is part of the extended BYK UK management team. This team is responsible for the success of BYK UK, working with the global BYK organisation to develop business strategy at a UK level and deliver tangible business results and service level performance.
