Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd is a British, award winning digital thermometer manufacturer, producing digital and infrared thermometers for food service and industry together with dataloggers, moisture meters, humidity and pH meters.
Located in Worthing, West Sussex, ETI has four sites situated in Easting Close and Dominion Way. ETI currently employ 210 people in total and manufactures 70% of the products it sells.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and IT-literate individual to join our friendly Purchasing Team. Key responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities - Purchasing
Maintain and update records of purchased products and delivery information.
Process and manage purchase orders placement.
Proactively progress and monitor delivery schedules (before due date).
Ensure stock levels are at an acceptable level and re-order/reduce scheduled orders as necessary.
Cover sign and approve invoices relating to Purchase order received.
Coordinate with goods-in regarding delivery dates.
Build and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers.
Liaise with various departments throughout the company eg Purchasing, QA, production staff, etc.
Be commercially aware regarding price breaks and stock levels.
Ensure Purchasing manager is aware of any increases or decreases on purchases.
Update and maintain pro forma payment due for account department and manage this within the overseas Supply chain.
Communicate with overseas suppliers within our supply chain and manage the logistics from origin to ETI. Process paperwork in a timely manner to ensure goods are shipped according to the expected schedule.
Updating forecast spread sheets daily.
Key responsibilities - Works Orders
Cover for producing work orders according to the reorder report.
Dealing with queries and communication from various sources via phone, email, and face to face.
Carrying out any necessary administrative duties as required.

Internally - Purchasing, Instrumentation/Sensors sites, production staff, etc
Externally - Suppliers
Knowledge and experience:
Working within a similar role or a good understanding of working in a manufacturing environment.
Interpreting technical documents, such as diagrams, verbal and written instructions.
Sourcing, working with, and maintaining good supplier relationships.
Negotiating best prices and delivery times.
Purchasing procedures and stock control.
Working with a computerised stock system.
An understanding and responsible attitude to Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
Understanding forecast and reorder reports to maintain stock levels.
Understanding the stock checks systems in place and how NetSuite shows this.
Training/skills:
Excellent planning and organisational skills, and effective time management.
Strong negotiating skills.
Good computer skills and confident user of Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication skills - both on the phone, via email and in person.
Self-motivated and able to use initiative with minimal supervision.
Accurate attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills for sourcing, working with, and maintaining good supplier relationships and negotiating the best prices and delivery times.
This role will suit an individual who is extremely IT-literate and has excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills. Good analytical and problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work well within a team are also essential.
