Purchasing Assistant

The Role:
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will support the Purchasing Manager with the day-to-day coordination of procurement activities. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and supplies, working closely with suppliers, internal teams, and the wider production department.
Key Responsibilities:
Raise and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner
Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure sufficient supply of materials
Liaise with suppliers to track orders, confirm lead times, and resolve delivery issues
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier details
Assist in sourcing new suppliers and obtaining quotations
Support in negotiating prices and terms with suppliers where appropriate
Work collaboratively with production, stores, and finance teams
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with internal policies and procedures
Assist with general administrative duties within the procurement department
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement support role, ideally within manufacturing or a similar environment
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Confident communicator with the ability to build strong supplier relationships
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Familiarity with stock management or ERP systems (advantageous)
Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure in a busy team environment
