Job Purpose



As the Purchasing and Logistics Manager you will support the business by overseeing all aspects of purchasing, supply chain and stock control. The role will have overall responsibility for ensuring consistent sourcing and supply of all stock items, negotiating terms and pricing to ensure costs are managed within the agreed budgets.

You will oversee the smooth and efficient operation of the central warehouse and logistics team ensuring effective handling of stock and equipment, goods-in and out, ensuring delivery schedules are optimised.

Key Responsibilities



Overseeing the supply chain of medical stock to ensure consistent supply for the clinics. Sourcing new supplier options and negotiating prices to ensure consumables costs stay within budget. Working closely with the finance team to accurately forecast demand, ensuring that clinics have sufficient stock levels to achieve budgeted sales, whilst minimising wastage. Being reactive when required to resolve any shortfalls or adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Overseeing the stock count process ensuring accuracy and adequate reconciliation, addressing anomalies and variances across clinics, warehousing and our 3PL providers (when used). Signing off all purchases and costs in co-ordination with the finance team to ensure charging is accurate. Whilst still engaged, oversee stock levels and service standards in our 3PL providers, ensuring storage costs are minimised whilst ensuring sufficient stock holding. Working with the WLS, ensure smooth and efficient operation of the central warehouse and logistics team ensuring effective handling of stock and equipment and goods-in and out. Work closely with the WLS to ensure that delivery routes and schedules are continually reviewed to optimise efficiency, time and cost whilst ensuring the welfare of the drivers. Ensure deliveries are on non-clinic days wherever possible. Check and approve all hotel, fuel & expenses required by the logistics team to ensure that costs are minimised and within budget. Manage the Purchasing Assistant to support with general purchasing tasks, ensuring the email address is monitored and managed effectively and costs are controlled. Medical Equipment - overseeing the equipment tracker and email address. Oversee new equipment ordering, spares, malfunctions, parts and repair. Manage stock levels / purchasing of drugs and co-ordinate deliveries direct to clinics to minimise costs whilst ensuring sufficient stock holding. Oversee ordering and supply of all items for new clinics according to required timelines. Continually look to identify cost saving opportunities to reduce the set up costs. The role may require some physical tasks such as receiving, checking, compiling and distributing items. The role may involve occasional travel to clinics to check / count stock, or to support the logistics team.

Person Specification



Experience



Previous experience of stock control within a busy, fast-paced environment. Experience of electronic stock-control management systems. Experience in sourcing suppliers and negotiating favourable terms and maximising discounts through bulk purchasing where possible. Experience in warehouse management and logistics co-ordination.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



Highly competent in Excel and spreadsheet management, plus able to use all Microsoft Office applications and other systems/databases. Excellent analytical skills, able to understand, interpret and use data in various forms to forecast volumes, identify trends and find cost savings. Able to use initiative, bringing ideas and suggestions to improve processes and systems. Highly organised, able to work methodically with high level attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to work autonomously but also as part of the wider operations team. Able to positively lead, inspire and motivate a cohesive and high-performing team.
