Elma Electronic is a global designer and manufacturer of products for housing electronic systems. Founded in 1960, the Elma Group has production facilities and sales offices worldwide serving the military and aerospace, industrial, research, telecom, medical, and commercial markets. The company offers a fast, flexible response to customer needs and an extensive practical knowledge in tailoring solutions to specific applications.

Due to expansion plans and continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Manager to join our Elma Purchasing Team.

Scope of role



The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing the smooth running of the Purchasing Department. Ensuring team collaboration, providing a quality customer service experience for both internal and external stakeholders while driving cost optimizations to achieve overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:



Effectively manage the purchasing team covering the entire people management remit.

Develop critical suppliers to support business demand and reduce risk to supply

Maintain supplier scorecards and supplier relationships through visits and collaboration.

Define KPIs for team and implement visual management cadence with team

Conduct supplier Audits in collaboration with Quality to ensure a robust supply chain.

Manage Pricing Agreements and Service Level Agreements/ supplier contracts

Review quotes and costing materials from suppliers to ensure best price.

Manage new and existing Elma suppliers to source high quality parts, delivered on time within target pricing

Review the Bills of Materials, working with the engineering team to resolve any issues

Negotiate pricing and lead time and favourable payment terms to meet purchasing targets and maximize business cash flow.

Responsible for procurement processes and adherence to company standards.

Drive supplier collaboration to reduce lead times, economies of scale pricing terms, with superior quality.

Manage along with Quality any material non-conformances with suppliers

Support the Production team with any material related questions.

Maintain the Elma approved supplier list.

Skills and Experience



Thorough knowledge of MRP and demand planning.

Excellent numerical, analytical and planning skills

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent I.T computer skills, including Excel and Word

Meticulous attention to detail

Highly organised ability to manage and prioritise workloads

Strong customer service skills

Able to work independently and collaboratively

Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills

Works well under pressure

Ability to motivate a team to meet targets

Required Qualifications/Experience to demonstrate competence in role:



3 years + experience working in a similar role

CIPS qualification

Previous experience of using MRP is essential

Experience in a manufacturing environment
