As part of our continued growth, we're looking for an experienced and motivated Purchasing Manager to join our team. The role will take charge of buying all our steel, fittings, and workshop consumables. This role is key to keeping our projects and production running smoothly -- ensuring we always have the right materials, at the right time, and at the right price.
You'll be working closely with our workshop and site project teams, and suppliers to make sure everything we need is on hand and up to spec.
Duties
Take full responsibility for purchasing steel, fittings, fasteners, and consumables used in fabrication, assembly and site installation.
Work closely with the workshop team to understand upcoming requirements and plan materials accordingly.
Manage other members of the stores team.
Build solid relationships with suppliers to secure best pricing, quality, and reliable delivery.
Negotiate terms and contracts to achieve cost savings while maintaining high standards.
Manage stock levels - keeping the shelves full enough to avoid delays but not overloaded.
Check deliveries and paperwork to make sure materials match orders and quality expectations.
Raise and process purchase orders accurately and on time.
Keep an eye on market prices and availability for key materials like steel and fittings.
Help improve purchasing and stock control systems for better efficiency.
Deal promptly with any supplier issues, shortages, or quality problems.
