Amber Therapeutics are looking for a proactive and capable Purchasing & Materials Controller to oversee and manage the purchasing process. This is an full-time position based onsite at our new custom-built facility at Harwell, Oxfordshire. Amber is a pioneering neuromodulation company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients through advanced medical technology and quality is at the heart of everything we do.

The Role




You will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, allocating materials to the production team, and supporting logistics coordination. You will lead the monitoring and control of physical stock using visual management tools with a focus on high-value components. This is a great opportunity to make a real impact on the business and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, including the implementation and optimisation of purchasing and inventory control systems.

Key Responsibilities:



Raise purchase orders as requested, subject to approval. Liaise with suppliers regarding order status. Ensure timely delivery to Goods In and flag delays or issues that could impact project timelines. Communicate quality concerns (e.g. Goods-In rejects) to relevant stakeholders. Provide supplier performance feedback. Move approved materials to stock locations promptly. Escalate material quality issues to management. Allocate materials to operators per work orders. Distribute materials/finished goods for clinical trials as requested. Monitor stock using visual control (kanban) and maintain accurate records for high-value parts. Prepare shipping documentation for outbound goods. Raise batch records where required.

Skills & Experience



Business Administration related degree or equivalent on the job experience. Experience of medical, aerospace or defence sectors advantageous. Knowledge of industry quality management systems such as ISO13485, 9001 or AS9100 advantageous. Proven experience in a purchasing, supply chain or materials control role--ideally within a manufacturing, engineering or life sciences environment Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control Experience managing stock systems, including physical stock checks and digital records (e.g. ERP/MRP systems) Familiarity with lean tools such as Kanban or visual stock management methods Experience coordinating logistics or shipping activities (domestic and/or international)


A clear, confident communicator, with a collaborative and pragmatic mindset, you will have excellent organisational skills and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
