We are currently recruiting for a purchasing specialist to manage the procurement of wooden flooring for our retailers.

Position Purpose



As Purchasing specialist for Flanagan Flooring you will have a pivotal, hands-on role at the heart of our company. You'll be responsible for managing the procurement and inventory of our wooden flooring range with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. From purchasing high-quality wooden flooring products and accessories to maintaining optimal stock levels, your work will directly support smooth day-to-day operations, ensuring we meet customer demand, and drive overall business performance. Key responsibilities



Source and purchase wooden flooring and related products from a global approved supplier network. Develop and maintain relationships with international suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules. Coordinate international shipments, including working with freight forwarders, customs agents, and shipping companies to ensure timely and cost-effective transport of goods. Track shipments and resolve any issues related to delays, damage, or documentation. Work closely with internal departments (sales, warehouse, finance) to forecast demand and ensure stock availability. Enter and maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP system, including purchase orders, shipment schedules, and supplier details. Monitor inventory levels and generate purchase orders based on demand planning and stock analysis. Evaluate supplier performance and participate in supplier audits or reviews. Stay updated on market trends, freight rates, and regulations affecting international trade. Provide advice on our wide range of flooring products. Laise with our company in Scotland and monitor stock deliveries between locations.

Required Skills and Experience:



Proven experience in purchasing or stock control, ideally within a flooring distribution or construction-related industry. Good numeracy and analytical ability. Attention to detail and the ability to multi- task. Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritise tasks. Strong background in dealing with international suppliers, TST (trader support teams or trading service teams), and global shipping/freight forwarding companies. Solid understanding of import/export processes, and customs documentation. Proficient in using ERP systems (e.g., Intact IQ) for purchasing and inventory management. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.

Desirable:

Experience in the flooring or building materials sector. Knowledge of ERP systems e.g. Intact.
