About the Role
We are looking for a Purchasing, Supplies and Facility Supervisor to join our Estates Department. This is a key operational role that ensures the smooth running of our stores and facilities services across multiple sites. You will play a vital part in supporting maintenance and project teams by managing inventory, coordinating procurement, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. Your work will directly contribute to the University's ability to deliver high-quality services and maintain its world-class facilities.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Estates Department stores, ensuring timely goods receipt, stock issue, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and support procurement of non-stock items.
  • Oversee health and safety compliance, including COSHH requirements and risk assessments.
  • Liaise with technical teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and resolve issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including process redesign and system upgrades.
  • Provide operational oversight for facilities tasks such as fire alarm testing, water hygiene checks, and waste management.
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience in inventory control and procurement operations, ideally across multiple sites.
  • Is confident using CAFM and financial systems for purchasing and reporting.
  • Brings strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead operational improvements.
  • Can supervise staff and contractors effectively, promoting a culture of safety and service excellence.
  • Communicates well and builds strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Essential:
  • Knowledge of health and safety compliance (including COSHH).
  • Strong data literacy and ability to interpret operational data.
Desirable:
  • Certifications in procurement, inventory management, or health and safety.
  • Familiarity with facilities management operations.
