Job Summary


The QC Scientist is responsible for executing and maintaining high standards of quality control for Axol products, ensuring compliance with ISO quality systems and internal specifications. The role encompasses routine testing of cell cultures, cell banks and media, as well as troubleshooting assays, analysing QC data and investigating non-conforming results.

The QC Scientist works under the supervision of the Senior QC Scientist and collaborates closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) and Manufacturing teams to ensure alignment between QC testing and broader quality systems. The role contributes to the continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing laboratory efficiency, reliability and compliance.

In addition, the QC Scientist plays a key role in maintaining laboratory standards, including housekeeping and adherence to health and safety protocols. This role is critical for ensuring that all Axol products released from the Roslin site consistently meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, supporting the company's mission to deliver reliable and innovative cell-based products.

Responsibilities



Perform cell culture and routine QC testing of cell cultures, cell banks, and media which including ICC, cell counts, viability, sterility, flow cytometry, pH, osmolality. Investigate non-conforming results, including out-of-specification (OOS) findings, and implement corrective actions. Conduct QC data analysis, trending, and assay troubleshooting to support product quality. Compile QC investigations and prepare Certificates of Analysis (CoA) for product release. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Logistics and QA to meet customer orders by providing accurate release timelines in line with QMS. Develop documentation for New Product Development (NPD), including SOPs, forms, and user guidelines for QC characterization and testing. Maintain accurate documentation in line with ISO 9001 regulatory and company requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, and QA, to address quality issues and improve processes. Maintain laboratory housekeeping, including cleaning, waste disposal, and coordinating equipment servicing and maintenance. Work closely with the Senior QC Scientist to plan and prioritize testing requirements. Perform additional tasks as reasonably assigned by the Senior QC Scientist, supporting overall site operations Maintain general laboratory housekeeping, including cleaning, waste disposal, and coordination of equipment servicing and maintenance. Work on a weekend rota basis to support laboratory operations including cell maintenance of QC and manf cells.

The post holder will have the following experience, skills, attitudes and experience:

Experience



a minimum of a degree (or equivalent qualification in life sciences) and/or at least 2 years of experience in a QC laboratory, ideally within cell biology, biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Pay: 32,000.00-38,000.00 per year
