Job Description

Job Purpose



To ensure the effective implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of Health & Safety, food safety, hygiene, and training programs across the manufacturing site. The QHSE Training Officer support compliance with all relevant H & S, food safety standards, legal requirements, and company policies, while developing staff competency in H & S, food safety and quality practices.

Key Responsibilities



1.Food Safety & Compliance



Deliver training, Toolbox talks, and awareness sessions tailored to service needs across the site in all aspects of site training, H & S ensuring production best practice compliance Work with managers and senior team to ensure timely completion of H&S actions Work with H&S Manager to develop and implement robust H&S systems, policies and safe systems of work Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene, and sanitation standards in conjunction with site QC's and QA's. Coordinate training records and ensure certifications are up to date Onboard new starters - create or adapt SOPs for specific roles liaising with the Production Manager and Technical Manager as necessary Support site preparation for internal, customer, and external audits (e.g., certification bodies, regulatory inspections). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant food safety and Health & Safety legislation, standards, and industry best practices. Identify training needs and design competency-based development plans

2. Training & Development



Develop, deliver, and evaluate Health and Safety, food safety, hygiene, and quality training programs for all site employees, contractors, and visitors. Maintain training records and ensure staff competencies are up to date per role requirements. Conduct induction training for new employees with a focus on, hygiene, health and safety, and quality awareness. Support managers and supervisors in identifying training needs and designing competency-based development plans. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, audits, and performance reviews.

3. Documentation & Record Keeping



Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all food safety programs, audits, and training records. Ensure timely review and control of procedures, policies, and training materials. Support data collection and analysis for food safety KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.

4. Continuous Improvement



Drive continuous improvement initiatives in H & S and food safety culture, hygiene practices, and training effectiveness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, engineering, QA) to identify and mitigate risks to safety and quality. Participate in root cause analyses and improvement projects.

Qualifications & Experience



Essential:



Bachelor's degree or diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, Health and Safety or related field. Experience working in a food manufacturing or processing environment. Strong understanding of Health and Safety, food safety legislation and standards (e.g., BRCGS).

Desirable:



Train-the-Trainer certification or equivalent experience in delivering training. Knowledge of allergen management, cleaning validation, and pest control programs. Experience with customer and third-party audits. H&S knowledge and willingness to learn

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems. Commitment to fostering a positive food safety culture.
