We're Wynne & Co Chartered Accountants - a small but mighty practice based in West Wales. We do things differently here. Yes, we're Chartered Accountants, but we're also real people and have a family feel to the team. Our clients trust us because we give them straight answers and real support -- and we do the same for each other.
We're ambitious and growing quickly. We need another brilliant mind to join the team. We care a lot about the culture we've built which is open, respectful, inclusive and we want to protect it as we grow. We're proud to be a neurodivergent and disability-inclusive employer. We have already obtained disability confident employer level one and want to get two and three this year and we genuinely walk the talk when it comes to flexible working, wellbeing and career development.
What we're looking for
We're on the lookout for a qualified or QBE accountant with at least 3 years' solid practice experience. You might be newly ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified via AAT and hands-on experience -- either is fine with us, as long as you know your stuff and have a proactive, can-do approach.
We're not big on hierarchy or ego. We are big on kindness, teamwork and doing the work well.
The role
This is a varied accounts role where you'll work closely with clients and help junior staff grow too. You'll need to be confident managing your own workload and flexible in how you work -- we're a small team, so we muck in where needed. Key bits include:
- Preparing year-end accounts for Ltd companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Preparing corporation tax returns and CT comps
- Preparing VAT returns and supervising VAT work done by juniors
- Preparing self-assessment tax returns
- Advising clients on PAYE, pensions, and other accounting queries
- Supporting and reviewing junior team members' work (bookkeeping, VAT etc.)
- With the option of working across both our Carmarthen and Cross Hands offices (you need not be stuck in one place every week, unless this is required by you)
What we offer
- A genuinely supportive team and positive working environment
- Flexible hours and scope for part-time working
- No real dress code - we care what you do, not what you wear
- Autonomy, trust, and support to grow in your own way
- Career development support (we invest in your future if you want it)
Who this will suit
This is ideal for someone who's:
- Looking to grow with a practice, not just clock in and out
- Comfortable working directly with clients and team members
- Values working in a place where their whole self is welcome
- Wants healthier work life without sacrificing ambition
Essential requirements
- 3+ years' practice experience
- Qualified AAT, ACA, or ACCA (or qualified by experience)
- Confident preparing year-end accounts, CT600s, VAT and personal tax
- Comfortable using Xero cloud accounting software (QuickBooks would be a bonus too)
- Based within commuting distance of Carmarthen or Cross Hands
- Down-to-earth and kind. We mean it.
