1)To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children attending Emmy Jayne's Nursery School;
2)To give support to other personnel within our Nursery;
3)To implement the daily routine in the playrooms.

Duties and Responsibilities
To adopt our Nursery philosophy wholeheartedly;
To help set up the playroom for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session;
To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met;
To keep a Development Portfolio of key children;
Work alongside parents/carers of all children to provide full integration into the Nursery;
Support all nursery practitioners and engage in a good staff team;
To be flexible within working practices of Nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery;
To advise the Team leader or other senior member of staff of any concerns eg. over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary;
To report all accidents to a senior member of staff;
Ensure each child is collected by someone authorised to do so;
Specific Child Care Tasks: Washing and changing children as required; Ensuring that mealtimes are a pleasant event; The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development; Providing comfort and warmth to an ill/upset child
To ensure Emmy Jayne's is a high quality environment, meeting the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development;
To be aware of the high profile of the Nursery and to uphold its standards at all times;
To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation;
To attend staff meetings and training courses as required;
To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, families or other staff which is acquired as part of the job;
To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Team leader, Operational Manager or Business Managers.

1) Ability to communicate effectively and engage with children, young people and families
To understand the importance of communication, of knowing how to listen, empathise, explain, consult, and seek support when needed.
2) Knowledge of child development
To have knowledge of developmental changes in children. To understanding what makes children and young people think and act in the way they do to respond to and support the needs as they emerge.
3) Ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
Knowing how to identify if children are suffering from harm or neglect. To be able to identify children who are not achieving their potential and help to ensure their well-being and quality of life.
4) Ability to support transitions
To identify transitions, understanding their likely impact and being able to support children, and their families through them.
5) Knowledge of multi-agency and integrated working
To have the skills to work together effectively with people from different professional backgrounds to better outcomes for children and families.
6) Ability to Share Information
To know how and when to share information to deliver better services for children and young people. Understanding and respecting the legislation and ethics surrounding confidentiality and security of information.
