Summary

We are seeking a Room Leader to join our lovely team at The Pickford Nursery. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our nursery during shifts, fostering a positive environment for children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the nursery team during your shift, ensuring high standards of care and education. Manage daily operations, including staff scheduling and resource allocation. Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding children's progress and well-being. Implement early childhood education programs that meet the needs of all children. Drive initiatives that promote a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for children. Support staff development through training and mentoring. Newsletters and communications to parents. Organising activities and events. Being a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families according to the EYFS Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues Ensuring health, safety and wellbeing of the children at all times

Requirements

Proven experience in a leadership role within a nursery or childcare setting. Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude. A passion for working with children and supporting their development.

Qualifications and Skills

Skills, aptitude, knowledge and experience

Previous experience of caring for, or working with children aged 0-5 in a paid capacity An understanding of the Early Learning Goals A commitment to the provision of high quality childcare Good written and verbal skills for report writing, maintaining child records and providing feedback to parents/carers and colleagues Interest in the care, learning and development of young children

Personal qualities

Good organisational, record keeping and planning skills Punctuality Excellent communication skills, with children, colleagues, advisors and parents/carers. Patience Reliability and trustworthiness A positive approach to inclusive practice, with children and colleagues Enthusiasm for working with young children Flexibility - occasionally working hours might be changed, eg. if the setting hosts a Parent's Evening Able to work in small teams

Qualifications

- Completion of a recognised Level 3 Childcare qualification, eg. NVQ 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development.

- A positive approach to gaining further qualifications

- Good understanding of the importance of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene in the workplace.

All openings are subject to extensive checks including DBS and references checks.

This post requires a Enhanced DBS check as there may be periods of unsupervised access to children. An Enhanced DBS and satisfactory references would be obtained prior to commencement of employment.
