Job Description

Room Leader Opportunity - Goosehill Early Excellence

At Goosehill, we're not just looking for another educator.

We're searching for someone extraordinary.

A spark-bringer.
A storyteller.
A wonder-weaver.

Someone who sees the magic in the everyday and knows that in the early years, every moment holds possibility, because this is where it all begins.

As we continue to grow and evolve, an exciting opportunity has emerged to join our passionate, forward-thinking team as a

Room Leader

for under 2's at Goosehill Early Excellence. This role is a 12-month maternity cover, with strong potential to become permanent due to our ongoing expansion.

Why join us?

As a Room Leader, you'll play a vital part in shaping the daily rhythm of nursery life. You'll guide, support, and inspire your team--leading with warmth, clarity, and a deep respect for every child's unique journey.

Our values weren't written overnight--they've been built slowly, thoughtfully, and collectively. They've grown from the hearts, hands, and voices of our educators, shaped through shared experience and reflective practice. When you join Goosehill, you help carry that ethos forward.

About Us

Goosehill Early Excellence, based at Hepscott Park in Morpeth, is an Ofsted-rated Outstanding nursery, offering an enriched approach to early childhood education through forest school, beach school, and a deeply considered pedagogy. As the sister setting to Goosehill Private Nursery in Morpeth, we're proud to be part of a growing family that prioritises excellence, creativity, and innovation in early years practice.

Our philosophy is rooted in curiosity, connection, and a deep respect for childhood. Drawing on influences such as Reggio Emilia and Te Wh?riki, we place the child at the centre of learning--nurtured by a collaborative, reflective, and experienced staff team. The inspiration for our practice comes not only from leading educational philosophies but, most importantly, from the children themselves.

We aim to create an environment that feels alive with wonder--where children explore, discover, and thrive through rich, real-life experiences. Whether in the woods, on the beach, or in our thoughtfully curated indoor spaces, learning is always hands-on, nature-based, and meaningful.

About the Role

As Room Leader, you will play a key role in shaping daily practice, inspiring your team, and leading with warmth, purpose, and professionalism. You will guide and support your room team in delivering an exceptional early years experience that reflects our values and educational ethos.

We are seeking someone who sees early childhood as a time of wonder and discovery--someone who believes in the magic of mud pies, the poetry of puddle jumping, and the power of a well-timed story. If you are a passionate practitioner ready to step into a leadership role--or are an experienced Room Leader looking for a new and meaningful setting--we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Bring

A fully recognised Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Early Years Education Proven experience working with young children, ideally in a leadership or senior practitioner role A genuine passion for outdoor and inquiry-led learning The ability to lead and inspire a team with confidence and empathy A reflective, research-informed approach to planning and pedagogy Strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding best practices Familiarity with child-led approaches (e.g. Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Te Wh?riki) is a plus A current Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain post-offer) Enhanced DBS check and two suitable references, in line with safer recruitment

What We Offer

A collaborative and supportive team culture Opportunities for professional development and pedagogical exploration A setting that values the outdoors, real experiences, and natural materials The chance to help shape the continued growth of an innovative, child-centred setting Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications A role where your passion and ideas will be heard and celebrated
