Main purpose of the role:



The Quality Assurance Co-ordinator supports the Factory Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining site compliance with food safety, quality, and hygiene standards. The role is responsible for coordinating and reporting on CCP and allergen validation activities, factory technical KPIs, conducting internal GMP and hygiene audits, and supporting the QA and Production teams in resolving factory incidents. The post holder will also deputise for the QA Manager during periods of absence to ensure continuity of quality and food safety oversight.

Job Responsibilities:



Coordinate and conduct CCP (Critical Control Point) and Allergen validation and verification activities across all production areas. Compile and issue validation reports, ensuring they are accurate, comprehensive, and completed within agreed timescales. Review validation data and trend results to identify potential risks or opportunities for improvement. Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising from validation findings. Carry out scheduled GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), fabrication, hygiene, glass and brittle plastics audits across all areas of the site. Record audit findings, trend and communicate results to relevant departments, and follow up on corrective actions to closure. Support the QA Manager in preparing for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits. Maintain accurate and up-to-date audit records and ensure consistent application of site standards. Support QA Assistants (QAAs) and production teams in investigating and resolving factory incidents or non-conformances. Participate in root cause analysis and assist in developing effective corrective actions. Escalate significant quality or food safety concerns promptly to the QA Manager. Assist in monitoring and trending of factory non-conformances to support continuous improvement. Deputise for the QA Manager during periods of absence, providing leadership and guidance to the QA team and ensuring maintenance of quality systems and standards. Support team training and development to ensure competence in quality and food safety tasks. Foster a proactive quality culture within the factory, promoting accountability and ownership of food safety across all departments.

Job requirements:



Skills & Experience required to do this role.

Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset. Excellent organisational, time management, and report-writing skills. Confident communicator with the ability to engage across multiple departments. Practical understanding of HACCP, allergen management, and validation principles. Working knowledge of GMP, hygiene, and food safety standards (e.g., BRCGS, ISO 22000). Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure, particularly when deputising. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems/databases.

Qualifications:



Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline (preferred). Previous experience in a Quality Assurance role within food manufacturing or a similar regulated environment. HACCP and Food Safety qualifications (Level 3 minimum; Level 4 desirable). Experience conducting internal audits and writing validation reports. Supervisory or deputising experience advantageous.
