Job Purpose
The National Taskforce on Prison Welfare and Safety (Taskforce) was established to inform the Scottish Government of the SPS response to Deaths in Custody.
The SPSC FAI Workforce Support and Training Project considers all aspects of training in relation to the themes agreed by the Taskforce, which has approved this role to ensure quality assurance of learning and development across the work of the Taskforce.
Initial funding for post is for 12-months as per Scottish Government agreement, although this is likely to extend into multi-year workstreams with funding subject to Scottish Government business case approval. If extended funding is approved, the successful candidate's tenure may be continued on an interim basis to ensure continuity and the advancement of critical workstream priorities.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, integrate and maintain quality assurance systems, processes and tools for learning and development in relation to the National Taskforce on Prison Welfare and Safety, and ensuring ongoing compliance with quality and education sector requirements.
Design and undertake quality assurance activities for programmes of learning and assessments developed and delivered by SPS College or external providers, including the creation of assurance plans, and the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate outcomes of quality activities.
Provide expert quality assurance and standards advice and consultancy to the National Taskforce on Prison Welfare and Safety and the development and/or review of quality assurance activities.
Undertake routine audits of training delivery, programme management and learner assessment. Analyse audit findings, investigate areas of non-conformance and develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
Person Specification
SPS recruitment and selection practice is based on the fundamentals of our Competencies for Success Framework. This identifies behaviours and standards required both of applicants seeking to join us, and our staff in their respective roles. Assessment of specific behaviours, of which there are eight, will be determined by the role you are applying for. Whilst it is unlikely you will be assessed on all of them, you will be assessed on those identified as key to role.
