About the role



We have an exciting and strategically important opportunity for a Quality Assurance Lead to join Oxford Cancer, a prominent city-wide research collaboration involving Oxford University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance, and Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

This post will play a strategic and operational leadership role, ensuring robust quality compliance across OMCDC's diagnostic and research operations. The post holder will develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), oversee regulatory accreditation, internal and external audits, supplier management, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.

The post holder will provide direct leadership and supervision to relevant personnel, guiding senior laboratory staff and section leads to ensure their compliance and active participation within the established QMS framework. The postholder will also be expected to collaborate closely with clinical trial sponsors, regulatory bodies, and research teams to ensure high-quality clinical research support, and represent QA function in meetings with partners, funders and collaborators (where appropriate), to define quality and regulatory expectations.

The post is based at Oxford Cancer, Radiobiology Research Institute, Churchill Hospital, OX3 7LE and is offered on a full-time fixed-term basis until 31st December 2027.

An early start date would be preferable for this role.

About you



You will have a postgraduate degree in biomedical sciences, biology, quality management (healthcare), or related discipline, with extensive experience in quality systems management within laboratory settings compliant with ISO:15189, ISO/IEC 17025, CLIA, GCLP, and/or HTA, and demonstrable expertise in document management, audits, CAPA processes, and use of LIMS and Quality Management Software.

Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills are essential, together with the ability to work autonomously while integrating effectively within a wide range of stakeholders. Previous experience working within NHS or academic clinical laboratories accredited to ISO:15189, ISO/IEC:17025, CLIA or GCLP would be desirable.
