Post Name: Quality Assurance Officer

Salary: dependent on experience

Job Purpose:

To implement and maintain the quality management systems for Tregroes Waffles to meet the requirements of BRC and customer regulatory audits requirements

Location: Llandysul

Hours of Work : between 20 and 40 hours

Full or Part Time

Type of Contract: permanent

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

Postholder is required to supervise groups of internal staff and external contractors

Accountability:

The post asks for someone who can illustrate innovative thinking and respond with practical solutions to problem solving.

They should be self-motivated, and able to work on their own initiative but to meet agreed deadlines

Duties and Responsibilities:

Establishing and maintaining quality management systems (QMS) compliant with relevant regulations and standards.

Conducting internal and external audits, including BRC audits, to ensure compliance with established standards.

Implementing and monitoring food safety procedures, including allergen control

Defining and maintaining product and process specifications, ensuring they align with quality standards and customer requirements.

Investigating quality issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and preventative actions.

Working with suppliers to ensure they meet quality requirements and addressing any potential risks.

Investigating and resolving customer complaints related to product quality and safety.

Preparing reports on quality performance, analysing data, and identifying areas for improvement.

Maintaining a robust system of documentation for all activities from incoming raw materials through to finished product despatch to maintain traceability and show conformance to specification at all stages and corrective action where necessary.

To assist the Operations Manager in developing the quality management systems and processes in line with legal, customer, company and other best practice requirements, which create, maintain and improve the integrity and food safety and quality of all products manufactured.

Deputise for the Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager in their absence.

To cover staff shortages and absences on the production line as and where necessary.

Essential

Academic / Professional / Technical / Vocational Qualifications

Educated to............or related subject

Level 3 HACCP

BRC knowledge

Practical and personal skills

Good interpersonal skills, dealing with people at all levels

A range of imaginative solutions or responses to problem solving including an application of fresh and innovative thinking

Good project management and problem-solving skills

A practical and logical approach, team orientated with an eye for detail.

Able to interpret and communicate complex information

Ability to cope with changing priorities and manage time effectively

Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Required Experience

Experience within a technical discipline in food manufacturing

Experience and knowledge of BRC, Food Legislation and Food Safety Principles

Working knowledge of 3rd party accreditation systems

Training/education required to be undertaken for the post/worked towards

Ongoing training is provided to update skills and knowledge of the food industry and project development.

Desirable

Qualifications / Training:

HACCP Plan validation

Ability to relate to a variety of professionals and food manufacturing personnel
