We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Quality Assurance Test Manager
to lead and manage the quality assurance strategy and testing operations for our electric propulsion systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in motor performance validation. This role is crucial in ensuring our propulsion systems meet regulatory standards, safety requirements, and performance benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and oversee end-to-end QA strategies for propulsion motor testing, including performance, stress, lifecycle, and environmental testing.
Design and manage test plans, protocols, and traceability matrices aligned with product specifications and regulatory requirements (e.g. UK CAA, CE, ISO 9001).
Provide technical oversight and mentoring.
Ensure that all motors meet functional, durability, and compliance standards before release.
Liaise with design, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
Manage test labs and equipment, ensuring calibration and compliance with safety standards.
Produce and present test reports, failure analysis, and QA metrics to stakeholders and leadership.
Support external audits, inspections, and certification processes.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in QA/testing.
Proven experience in testing brushless DC motors (BLDC), ESCs, or similar electric propulsion systems.
Solid understanding of motor performance parameters (RPM, torque, power efficiency, vibration, thermal behaviour).
Experience with automated test rigs, data acquisition systems, and environmental chambers.
Familiarity with regulatory and industry standards (including ISO 9001 and global UAV regulations).
Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills (including FMEA, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Experience in aerospace, electric propulsion, or robotics industries.
Knowledge of programming/scripting for test automation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Work Environment:
Laboratory/testing environment and office-based work.
Occasional travel within the UK and internationally for supplier audits or partner visits.

Pay: 45,000.00-55,000.00 per year
