Main Purpose of the Role



A temporary 6 month vacancy has become available for a Quality Auditor supervisor to join Aquascot's Technical Department. This role will provide an opportunity to ensure the site remains fully compliant with all relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards through rigorous auditing, documentation, and proactive issue resolution. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of compliance across all departments and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Aquascot is an employee owned business operating within the food industry; established for over 30 years it has a significant presence in the highlands. We are based in Alness, Ross-Shire and are committed to providing sustainable, high quality seafood to our customers.

Responsibilities :



Conduct internal GMPs across production, hygiene, and storage areas to ensure compliance with HACCP, BRCGS, and customer-specific standards.

Monitor and verify that all operational practices meet legal and regulatory requirements.

Review and verify production and quality documentation for completeness and compliance.

Support preparation for external audits and customer visits.

Identify non-conformances and work with relevant departments to implement corrective and preventive actions.

To report and investigate internal non-conformances and foreign body issues.

Escalate serious compliance issues to the Quality Manager and support investigations.

Provide guidance and support to operational teams and Quality Audits on quality and compliance requirements.

Assist in delivering training on food safety procedures and audit readiness.

Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the site.

Liaise with production, engineering, hygiene, and technical teams to ensure alignment on quality standards.

Ensure compliance with product specifications, quality and legal parameters and food safety requirements.

To monitor verification testing for allergen controls as appropriate and in accordance to the set procedures.

To monitor instruments and equipment.

Ensure all relevant records such as check sheets and traceability records are completed in a timely manner, are accurately maintained and relate to the correct products.

To support the production teams in ensuring metal detection tests are undertaken in a timely manner and in accordance to the procedures.

To understand various labels, use by date, do not open before date (DNOB).

To follow the HACCP system procedures in accordance with the quality assurance procedures.

To ensure that the hygiene standards are maintained at all times for the equipment and staff and ancillary areas, and that all storage areas are kept clean and tidy.

To monitor and ensure that inspect and report on ingredient raw materials and packaging products.

Supporting the Quality Auditors with the daily workload, ensuring that all tasks are completed as well as additional covering holidays and sickness where required.

Key attributes of the candidate:



Ideally will have experience in quality control and food safety or two years operator experience.

Strong working knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRCGS, GMP).

SVQ Food Manufacturing Qualification is desirable.

Passionate about product quality in order to deliver to specification.

An impeccable eye for detail with regards to key quality attributes and fish specification parameters.

An effective communicator and team player with ability to communicate with fellow employees confidently and with integrity.

Practical hands on approach; able to follow procedures logically and systematically.

Capable of working both on own initiative and proactively as part of a team.

Ability to highlight issues, resolve problems and challenge where appropriate.

Reliable, organised and punctual.

Flexible with a positive approach to undertaking a variety of tasks as part of the wider Quality department.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 26,000.00-27,500.00 per year
