Job Description
W & H Marriage & Sons Ltd is a family run miller since 1824, producing award-winning flours. We are looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our Chelmsford City Centre site.
Reporting to the Flour Technical Supervisor, you will be responsible for receiving bulk ingredients for the mill and ensuring they meet quality requirements, and therefore, provide efficient technical quality support both to the flour mill and to customers.
Key functions include:
Routine tests on flour production
Assisting with the calibration and operation of lab equipment
Completing proficiency schemes
Conducting on-site audits
Adhering to the laboratory quality manual procedures and flour mill quality systems
Maintaining paper and computerised lab records
Sampling and testing the cereal deliveries (including visual inspection of the vehicle). Recording these results on the laboratory IT system
Checking the intake pit before and after deliveries
Comparing the delivered quality to the contract and raising a claim over the phone or by email with the supplier or rejecting as necessary
The ideal candidate will have the following skills / experience:
Experience working in a food manufacturing / production environment
Competent in using multiple IT systems
Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills
Other information:
As part of the inspection process there is a requirement for repetitive lifting and carrying manual handling activities.
This post is operated on a three-shift cycle, Monday to Friday, between 7.00 am and 6.00 pm. Basic hours are 37.5 hours per week, plus contractual overtime of 5 hours per week, which includes one in three Saturdays.
Procedural, laboratory and IT systems training will be provided.
