Quality Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and detail-driven Quality Engineer to join our Quality team on site at our Manufacturing facility in Debden, Essex. This role will be responsible for driving product and process excellence and will ensure that quality is built into the product during the design and development stage to mitigate risks during production.


In addition, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining ISO 9001 compliance, support delivery of our customer contractual requirements, APQP activities and champion quality culture at all levels within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities



Job planning (APQP) process owner ensuring adherence and risk mitigation Support job planning (APQP) tasks - Tech spec review, jobs bags, internal standards, FMEA, production hand-off, Control Plan Ensuring that the Technology Management Process is followed for all Debden owned activities Owner of all Quality deliverables including Control Plans, GR&R of new equipment and FMEAs Responsible for quality activities (including FAT, SAT and BAT testing) for new machinery Lead assigned improvement activities using structured problem-solving techniques such as six sigma, 8D etc. Process Facilitator for all DFMEAs, FMEAs and PFMEAs and the link into the Control Plans Training out of Control Plan requirements to all personnel. Creation of all specifications linked to the Control Plans and management of all variables and templates within the electronic Quality system (QiS) Facilitator for the job history process ensuring it is completed for all jobs. Collating the Quality related data, including FMEA process review and amendment based on data collation Owner of the Debden Integrated Management System, meeting ISO standards, updating documentation in a timely manner and conducting the annual IMS review Conduct gap analysis and implement changes to quality processes for changes to ISO standards

Skills, Qualifications & Experience



An engineering background in a relevant design and/or manufacturing environment (essential) ILM certificate or evidence of equivalent training or experience Demonstrable experience of leading and managing a team of people Robust understanding of APQP, NPI, DFMEA / PFMEA processes Problem solving - 9 step/8D/5Y/CAPA tools experience Working knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 quality system Proven experience of participating in and/or leading product and process audits. Knowledge of LEAN principles and of Continuous Improvement methodologies. Experience in a manufacturing organisation and some experience of audit (desirable) Experience of working with lean manufacturing processes (desirable)
