Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards. This is an on-site role based in West Somerset.

The Quality Engineer ensures that both incoming materials and manufactured parts meet defined quality standards and specifications. This role involves conducting inspections, creating, reviewing and maintaining quality documentation, and implementing procedures to support compliance and continuous improvement. The Quality Engineer works closely with suppliers, production, and cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and uphold product integrity.

Key Responsibilities:



Incoming Goods Inspection



Inspect incoming materials and components for conformity to specifications and purchase order requirements. Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional checks using appropriate tools and equipment. Record inspection results and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs).

Manufactured Parts Acceptance



Perform in-process and final inspections of manufactured parts to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and quality standards. Support production teams with first article inspections (FAI) and process validations. Approve or reject parts based on inspection outcomes and acceptance criteria.

Quality Documentation



Review and maintain supplier documentation including certificates of conformity, test reports, and material certifications. Prepare and manage internal quality records such as inspection reports, control plans, and deviation approvals. Ensure traceability and proper documentation of all inspected items.

Quality Procedures and Compliance



Develop and maintain procedures for inspection, acceptance, and quality control aligned with ISO 9001. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and evidence of compliance. Identify and implement improvements to inspection and quality processes.

Supplier and Internal Collaboration



Liaise with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions. Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and production teams to ensure quality requirements are understood and met. Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and experience needed:



Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline. Experience in quality assurance or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of inspection techniques, measurement tools, and quality standards. Familiarity with ISO 9001, FAI, PPAP, and other quality frameworks. Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills, and problem-solving ability. Proficient in MS Office.

Please note that the role of Quality Engineer is an on-site role, so you would need to live within daily commutable distance. For guidance - Taunton and Bridgwater are both approx 25 miles away and Exeter is approx 35 miles from our site.

What can we offer you?



In addition to the salary of 40,000 per annum, we offer 25 days of holiday plus 8 standard Bank Holiday days. This annual holiday entitlement increases by one day for every 5 years of employment with us.

We have plenty of on-site parking and we have an on site gym which is free for staff to use.
