to join our specialist team where we manufacture complex fabricated, painted assemblies. This role is to assist & report directly into the Inspection Manager. You will be carrying out the physical inspection of incoming piece parts, fabricated assemblies, both pre & Post paint along with the auditing of specific processes including all finishing & pre-delivery checks using specialist equipment & reporting mechanisms. You will be responsible to ensure exceptional standards of fit, finish, and functionality prior to final despatch.
Role Overview of Quality Inspector
The role will encompass the use of various inspection & testing equipment for end-to-end quality inspections - from incoming components to final sign-off. Ensuring full compliance and completion of all relevant reporting data both in electronic & manual formats.
Key Responsibilities of Quality Inspector
Contribute to health and safety practices, risk assessments, and workplace standards.
Manage the inspection levels and approval of incoming products from suppliers.
Conduct in-process checks, as required including paint & assembly.
Ensure all necessary reports are managed & completed to ensure evidence of compliance to process.
Oversee rectification work and ensure completed repairs meet required standards.
Accurately record quality issues, provide clear problem statements, and log defects in the internal reporting system.
Carry out ad-hoc audits to ensure processes are being adhered to.
Collaborate with production & clients to resolve issues and support the whole team.
What We're Looking For in a Quality Inspector
Experience in the steel Fabrication & Painting industry is essential.
Experience in a production, manufacturing, or bespoke build environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
Familiarity with quality processes, inspection tools, and reporting systems.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Good understanding of technical drawings, manufacturing & assembly processes.
Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office tools.
Full, clean UK driving licence (product driving licence desirable or willingness to obtain).
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field.
Several years' experience of working within the fabrication sector.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a passion for exceptional quality, delivering to the highest standards in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. It may suit a candidate with vast hands on experience currently working on the shopfloor and is looking to step up into a more senior role.
