Job Description

An exciting opportunity within the Quality Department of a food manufacturing and blending facility to strengthen and develop the site standards and quality team.

We are a family friendly SME based in Nantwich, Cheshire. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working, friendly person to join our Quality Department and work closely with our Blending team.

Role: Quality Technologist



Reporting to: Quality Manager

Hours: 39 hours pw. Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-1pm

Shift cover (6-2 or 2-10) for holidays - 8 weeks per year

Salary: 34,000

Duties and responsibilities:



Key role in providing quality support to the blending operation and further quality support to the packing and warehouse activities Implementation of food safety and GMP & BRCGS standards and procedures. Ensuring that the standards laid down in the QMS are being adhered to. Start-up and routine quality surveillance within a food production environment, with key area within the Blending operation, and support in the Packing area. Routine product and ingredients sampling and on-site analysis (e.g. pH, viscosity, organoleptic) Collecting microbiological samples, water samples, environmental swabs and hand swabs as required. - Sample submission to the testing laboratory. Undertaking internal audits focusing on GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Fabrication, Hygiene and Personal Hygiene, and ensuring suitable corrective actions are taken and satisfactorily closed out Taking part in 3rd party and customer audits Raising non-conformities, Quality incidents and taking suitable and appropriate corrective actions Investigating consumer/ customer complaints and involvement in root cause analysis and preventative actions Part of the HACCP Team Able to create and deliver training and development material to personnel across the company regarding the QMS Actively taking part in resolution of customer complaints as required. Making up new & improved product samples on laboratory scale, to support the blending operation Covering colleagues in the team for holidays and/or busy periods. Carrying out routine validations of CCP's, Allergens and Operational Control points (cleaning & sanitation protocols) Food safety risk assessments Developing SOP's for improvement and development of site standards and new processes Technical Supervisor to a team of 3 on-shift Quality Technicians Deputise for the Group Quality Manager and support in the day-to-day overall quality of the plant

Person Specification



Previous experience in a quality role in a food manufacturing environment Previous experience in taking part in BRCGS and other 3rd party audits Formal qualification in food technology/ quality/ hygiene at HND level or equivalent Previous experience in a team leader role preferred Can-do attitude, enthusiastic and ability to encourage the others and work as a team player Be self-motivated and proactive Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbal Knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel / Word / PowerPoint) Organised with ability to multitask. Very good attention to detail
