We are a medium-sized, well-established construction company based in Chester, specialising in retail, leisure, office and commercial projects across the Northwest and UK. Our projects include groundworks, civil engineering, internal fit-outs, and full construction packages.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our friendly and focused team.
Role Summary
We are seeking a driven and capable Quantity Surveyor who can manage projects from initial enquiry through to final account. You will work autonomously on multiple sites, while also supporting and collaborating with our small office team based in Chester.
This is a key role that requires both technical proficiency and excellent organisational skills to ensure commercial success across all phases of a project.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
Manage and negotiate subcontractor packages.
Produce and track interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
Prepare cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates.
Conduct site visits and liaise with site managers and project teams.
Maintain up-to-date and compliant commercial records.
Submit daily and weekly site reports.
Ensure value for money, cost control and profitability.
Support the smooth delivery of multiple concurrent projects.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor role
Background in groundworks, civils, fit-out, and general construction
Strong understanding of retail, leisure, commercial, and office build projects
Able to work independently and take ownership of projects.
Excellent time management and multitasking skills
Exceptional attention to detail with strong reporting capabilities
Professional, approachable, and a team player
Proficient with industry-standard software and Microsoft Office
Full clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
Must be DBS checked (or willing to undergo)
Formal qualification in Quantity Surveying (HND/Degree or equivalent)
