This role is based in Carlisle.

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team based at our Head Office in Carlisle.

As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting the commercial success of our projects by managing project costs and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Skills/Knowledge:

A Higher National Diploma (HND) or Degree in a construction related discipline is preferred but not essential. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a minimum of three years' relevant industry experience. Strong understanding of quantity surveying practices. Familiarity with contract requirements. Effective communication and customer service skills. Proficiency in IT and professional telephone etiquette. Business development awareness.

Main Duties:

Attend project handover meetings, review and action relevant information. Communicate contract details to the contracts team. Initiate remeasurement of applicable works. Assist in subcontractor procurement when required. Price and document contract variations; maintain accurate electronic records. Conduct site visits to capture variations and validate work. Participate in scheduled team and contract review meetings. Submit valuations and final accounts with supporting documentation. Respond promptly to payless notices and payment disputes. Provide internal valuations aligned with cost period deadlines. Keep the Commercial Manager informed of progress and issues. Monitor snagging progress collaboratively. Promote high standards of customer service. Advise operational teams on improvements to enhance project outcomes. Follow up on commercial matters weekly. Support business development across all regions. Negotiate favourable payment terms with suppliers and clients. Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders. Maintain regular communication with clients.
