Poplars is a dynamic and rapidly expanding construction company seeking a talented and ambitious experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. We would also consider a Graduate or recently qualified individual if they had the right attitude and goals.
As a young and hard-working organisation, Poplars has successfully built a diverse portfolio of projects over the years, ranging from residential new-builds to commercial fit-outs. We also take pride in our reputation as a carpentry subcontractor for large regional developers.
Role Overview:
You will play a crucial role in our continued success. Working closely with the existing team, your responsibilities will include general day-to-day tendering/estimating, monthly valuations, client/principal contractor relations, site visits, procurement, and regularly reporting project performance to the management team. We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in subcontracting or carpentry-based estimating, as there will be a unique opportunity to help oversee and manage the carpentry contracting arm of the Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating
: Accurately and efficiently prepare project cost estimates and budgets.
Valuations
: Regularly assess and value work completed on-site in line with contractual agreements.
Client Relations
: Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project outcomes.
Site Visits
: Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, identify potential issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
Procurement
: Collaborate with the management/site team to source materials and subcontractors, and negotiating any contractual terms.
Carpentry Contracting
: Help oversee and contribute to the management of Poplars' carpentry contracting services.
Requirements
:
Degree
: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience
: All entry-level candidates are welcome; however, any experience in subcontracting or carpentry-based estimating is highly desirable.
Skills
: Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Adaptive and logical-thinking. Proficiency in Excel and estimating software.
