Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with knowledge in residential and affordable housing sectors who can provide expertise in pre-construction activities with a strong knowledge of construction contracts?
As one of the most active developing housing associations in the UK, SNG's Investment and Development team has a strategy to invest 7bn into new and existing homes over the next ten years. We are proud that we're leading the way on setting the very highest standards for affordable homes and great places to live. We're seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our development team.
The role
The role will work on regional cost-estimation, due-diligence and tendering key contracts, working closely with employers' agents and in-house procurement team.
This role is key in supporting Land and New Business and Regeneration teams to ensure land-bids are cost-competitive and help meet new business delivery targets for S106, Land-Led, JV and Regeneration opportunities. This function will also support the project delivery team post contract providing in-house expertise on administering standard form contracts.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Regional team in implementing agreed design, procurement, and delivery strategies.
  • Proactive coordination and liaison between SNG internal stakeholders, Development colleagues, consultants, contractors, employers agents and supply chain to meet business objectives.
  • Liaising with contractor and material supply chain to ensure SNG rate book reflects market conditions.
  • In support of the Land and New Business / Regeneration teams and working with internal Planning, Technical and Commercial colleagues and external consultants, undertake viability, feasibility pre-construction analysis, detailed build cost estimates and supporting the procurement and contractual agreements with contractor partners.
What we're looking for:
  • Experience with JCT Design and Build Contracts.
  • Practice delivering residential developments on greenfield, brown field, mixed-use and contaminated land sites.
  • Experience pricing geotechnical engineered solutions and all types of traditional foundations and piling including temporary and permanent works, concrete frames, basement construction, site remediation.
  • Relevant experience cost-estimating traditional construction for houses and apartments as well as apartment superstructure and various Modern Methods of Construction
