Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced and skills
Quantity Surveyor
to join our Asset department. You will play a key role in helping to deliver successful latent defect projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time and within budget.
Your main focus will be on the commercial and quantity surveying requirements related to these projects, ensuring value for money is achieved. Accurate tracking, forecasting and reporting of expenditure will be essential to support effective financial management throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare tender documents, including bills of quantities and schedules of work, to establish a robust pricing framework for project tenders
Manage financial contractual arrangements with contractors, including calculating monthly payments and preparing interim and final accounts in line with company policies and best practices
Monitor expenditure and cash flow forecasts, update live orders, review and process contractor payments in accordance with agreed contractual terms
Manage a designated budget, ensuring value for money by controlling expenditure and identifying any financial risks or irregularities early
Assess and settle contractor claims, agree final accounts, and issue Final Account Certificate(s) to close out contracts efficiently
Liaise closely with Finance to support a smooth, timely capitalisation process each month
Work closely with key internal teams such as Property, Finance and Procurement, as well as external contractors and consultants to ensure effective communication and project delivery
Undertake additional duties as required, maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
More About You
You hold a minimum HNC/HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
You have at least 5 years of experience in contract administration and commercial management, with strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
Previous experience in working within a Building Services environment and/or multi-disciplined office
A proven track record in procurement and commercial delivery of construction contracts, preferably in a social housing environment
You are skilled in producing clear, well-structured reports which support effective decision making
An ability to interpret engineering drawings, method statements and risk analysis
Experience in producing specifications, tenders and contract documentation to support a range of projects, using procedural procurement methods, ensuring compliance with current British Standards, Codes of Practice, Building Regulations, and a good knowledge of current legislation, keeping up to date with any changes
Strong understanding and management of risk and financial planning
Ability to ensure compliance with all mandatory KPI's, Client Policies and Procedures including Health and Safety and Environmental management
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders
Experience of commercial dispute resolution
Membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIOB or RICS, would be highly desirable
