We are currently looking for a
Quarry Manager
to join our friendly team based at Tarmac Hints Sand and Gravel Quarry, Tamworth, Staffordshire. As well as Tamworth this site is also easily accessible from Lichfield, Burntwood, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Atherstone, Little Aston, Aldridge, Walsall, Bloxwich, Great Wyrley, Rugeley, Burton-on-Trent, Nuneaton and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting to Senior Operations Manager the role of
Quarry Manager
will have full responsibility covering quarrying and daily operations, leading all Tarmac and contractor personnel working in the quarry areas, with safety as key priority.
Key Accountabilities:
Motivate, develop and train quarry personnel and contractors to ensure they continue to meet the competency requirements
Development of the Quarry annual plan and budgets. Ongoing responsibility for the quarry cost control and forecasting
Project management of projects within the quarry within agreed timescales and budget.
Apply all relevant Environmental legislation - EMS, EMAS
Ensure the quarry is operated within the scope of all leases, planning consents and conditions
Ensure good public relations are developed and maintained and all complaints fully investigated through open communication with all stakeholders and the local community
Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, in particular the Quarries Regulations 1999
Develop and maintain the Quarries' health and safety document to fully meet the QR requirements
Implement and ensure compliance with Tarmac health and safety systems / standards and best practices
Ensure that all work undertaken in the quarry is risk assessed and safe-working procedures put in place
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of
Quarry Manager
will demonstrate proven experience working within a similar environment managing teams and staff development and preferably have experience gained as a section 8.1.c
Suitable candidates for this role of
Quarry Manager
will have:
Industrial Sand Quarry and processing experience preferred
Experience of undertaking risk assessments and developing safe working procedures
Excellent Customer engagement skills
Project management experience including effective budgeting and cost control skills
Experience of building successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with the local community
Flexibility for participation in "on call" rota with the Production Team
Diploma in Quarry Technology or equivalent relevant experience
NVQ level 4 in Health Safety and Environmental Management in Quarrying
Registered Institute of Quarrying or other professional body CPD
SHE NVQ Level 4 preferred
Level 4 Geotechnical preferred
