We're Hiring: Rail Freight Maintenance Technician

Field-Based | UK Rail Network

12-Day Rotating Shift Pattern | Full-Time - Permanent

On-Call Fitter

, you'll respond to urgent call-outs, perform scheduled maintenance, and ensure wagons are safe, reliable, and ready for action.

What You'll Do:

? Diagnose and repair faults on freight wagons

? Respond to emergencies including derailments and brake issues

? Carry out inspections and scheduled maintenance

? Support technical operations during on-call hours

? Collaborate with terminal staff and train operators

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

Full UK driving licence

Fault-finding and repair experience

Strong communication and IT skills

Willingness to work unsociable hours and travel

Desirable Extras:

HNC/HND or NVQ Level 4

Knowledge of brake systems, couplers, and running gear

PTS or equivalent site access certification
