The job holder will work within the R&D department, responsible for assistance in all aspects of systems maintenance, vacuum, mechanical and electrical work. The job holder will also assist in preparing the hardware needed for experimental setups, also assisting in conducting experiments, data collection and presentation of results.
The role includes general housekeeping and organisation of the R&D workshop area.
KEY REPONSIBILITIES/TASKS
Experimental Work:
Assistance in vacuum and laboratory equipment maintenance and upgrades.
Mechanical and basic electrical/electronic work needed in the R&D area.
Organising experimental setup arrangements.
Conducting experiments, following protocols, and documenting procedures.
Collecting and recording data accurately and systematically.
Works within, and follows, established systems and processes.
Maintenance of R&D stocks and supplies.
Data Collection / Analysis / Presentation:
Ability to collect experimental data and present results in a logical manner.
Interest in learning and use and programming of PLCs, microcontrollers and data loggers for assistance in experimental setups and data gathering.
Administrative Tasks:
Preparing presentations and reports.
Managing schedules and contributions to meetings.
Communication with other teams, customers and suppliers.
Safety/Housekeeping:
Follows safety procedures and safe working practices at all times.
Follows good practice manual handling procedures.
Wears personal safety equipment at all appropriate times.
Returns all tools to allocated area following use.
Work area always tidy and organised.
Other:

-Limited travel may be required to customer/supplier sites (very occasionally this may mean travel to customer sites overseas).
