Purpose of the Job



The R&D Engineer is a member of the Technical team, responsible for Research and Development projects, including: Testing, analysis and research of Hardide coatings properties. Coating failure investigations and production problem solving. Development of the new applications of the coatings. Development of new processes and materials for Hardide and improvements to the currently used processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities



Conduct testing, analysis and research of coatings properties, both in-house and at external laboratories. Manage R&D projects, related to development of new production processes and new applications. Participate in troubleshooting production problems. Develop and implement improvements and failure preventative measures for production processes. Compiling and writing technical reports. Providing technical support to the company's other functions.

Essential Qualifications



Master's Degree level qualification in Engineering or Materials is an essential requirement. Relevant experience in materials testing, research and analysis, using modern analytical, experiment planning and statistical techniques. Demonstrable problem-solving capacity. Proven report-writing skills.

Knowledge and Skills



In-depth knowledge of Engineering Materials; knowledge of Coatings and Surface Engineering is an advantage. Knowledge and skills in R&D project management and experiment planning techniques. Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Good written reporting and communication skills. Skills in reviewing scientific and technical literature to prepare the state-of-the-art summary on the project topic. Accuracy and attention to details. Experience and skills in using analytical equipment, including SEM, XRF, metallographic equipment. Ability to work in a team as well as alone, achieving objectives and deadlines. Familiarity with chemical handling safety requirements and quality control.

Ideal Profile



The successful individual in this role must have a good in-depth understanding of Materials and Surface Engineering, combined with analytical approach and problem-solving capacity, ability to generate new ideas and solutions and to have them fully researched, developed, tested and implemented. Hardide is a fast-paced growing business that is constantly introducing new products to the process, the successful candidate should be able to plan and perform the work to an agreed timetable in pressing production environment. They must have the ability to work alone as well as in a team and possess good communication skills.

Pay: 35,000.00-49,000.00 per year
