Position: R&D Manager, Product Testing, Unified Supply Chain

Previous experience: Strong experience and understanding of the software testing discipline, CI/CD, leading quality-oriented projects, experience with software quality in a continuous delivery platform. Previous management experience of a testing team is a benefit.

Location: Cambridge, UK \xe2\x80\x93 Hybrid (60% office, 40% remote)

The job

Reporting to the Head of Quality Practice, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be part of our Unified Supply Chain product, managing a team of skilled software test engineers. Our Quality team is large and diverse, with a range of experiences and skillsets, from seasoned manual testers to associate level engineers finding their niche in writing automation tests.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll be responsible for the management and development of around 8-10 test engineers, with additional duties that will see you work closely with other internal teams to ensure successful delivery of quality deliverables for our customers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of software test engineers with full line management responsibilities, including one-to-ones, goal and objective setting and quarterly performance check-ins.
  • Support the test team with moves towards Continuous Delivery and Continuous Testing.
  • Contributing to decisions on how we carry out our testing, sharing opinions on the right tools to use and the right methods to achieve our goals.
  • Work with individuals in the quality team to remove impediments and facilitate process improvements.
  • Ensure that product teams are raising and triaging bugs correctly and resolving issues in a timely manner.
Ideal experience:
  • Strong experience within software development and software testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes, ideally using Azure DevOps
  • Strong understanding of test automation theory
  • Tracking and understanding software quality KPIs
  • Working with stakeholders e.g. release train management, product managers etc.
Great skills to have
  • The pace at AVEVA can be exciting and fast, so whilst you will need excellent time management and effective prioritisation, we will do all we can to support a balanced portfolio of work, and your wellbeing.
  • An eye for detail is vital. The successful candidate will be responsible for checking that our bug backlog is being correctly managed.
  • Previous experience of managing technical teams of software professionals is helpful but not essential.
