About the role:

As part of the University\'s significant investment in the delivery of the Manchester Fashion Institute\'s new and ambitious strategic vision, we are looking for a Reader in Fashion Marketing to join our dynamic and growing team of academics. We have an excellent track record in industry collaboration, academic research and innovative teaching and learning. We are looking for an experienced academic who will lead a team focused on contributing to our ambitious research and education targets. We have ambitious plans to grow our postgraduate provision, notably postgraduate research and those appointed could play a key part in supervision of PhD students. We want to increase our focus on funded research and publication of high-quality outputs. We want to further improve our graduate outcomes and reduce our award gaps. You will be expected to contribute to the design and delivery of high-quality teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level your research and pedagogy will combine the elements of traditional marketing practices with a deep understanding of the fashion industry\'s unique dynamics and challenges. We wish to recruit to the following areas but not limited to: consumer behaviour; B2B marketing; retail marketing; marketing strategy; marketing communications; digital marketing; advertising and branding; brand management; International marketing, marketing analytics and Ai marketing.

It should be noted that experience does not have to specifically be from fashion background, although we would seek assurance through the application process that you could apply your broader marketing expertise in a fashion context.

About you:

Essential Skills:

  • A good first degree together with a PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualifications.
  • A PGCE, Certificate of Education or PGCLTHE (or equivalent).
  • Senior Fellowship of the HEA (or commitment to obtain within three years of initial appointment)
  • Commitment to the University\'s strategic objectives, with a focus on supporting Education, Research and Knowledge Exchange.
  • Commitment to the University\'s policies and procedures including promoting equality in own area of responsibility and in general conduct.
  • Membership of relevant Professional bodies, demonstrating professional standing.
  • Successfully publish results of research to the REF, in peer reviewed journals or monographs, or publish/exhibit professional practice
