We're looking for a Reading Specialist Teacher who's ready to make a real difference. If you thrive on helping young people overcome reading challenges and have the skills to deliver impactful 1:1 and small group interventions, we want to hear from you.

In this role, you'll:



Work closely with students who need targeted support with reading Use your deep understanding of phonics and reading development to plan and deliver tailored sessions. Carry out baseline assessments and create individualised reading profiles that guide your teaching. Draw on teacher feedback and assessment data to close learning gaps and support sustained progress.

You'll bring:



Proven experience delivering reading interventions, including Precision Teaching, Reading Recovery, and Paired Reading. A strong grasp of the orthographic layers--Alphabetic, Pattern, and Meaning/Morphemic--and how they support reading fluency. A passion for reading that inspires pupils and helps them build confidence. The ability to support phonological awareness and address specific reading deficits with precision and care. Queen Katharine Academy (QKA) is a member of the Cambridgeshire-based Thomas Deacon Education Trust and opened in September 2017. QKA is a larger-than-average, age 11 to 19 school in north Peterborough with approximately 1,700 pupils on roll, including 350 in the sixth form.

After working with groups of students and staff, we are pleased to launch our 'QKA Way'. Our academy mantra demonstrates our belief that providing our students with a world-class education will enable them to positively influence the world.



Our values are Ambition, Responsibility and Respect and these fit perfectly with Katharine of Aragon who our academy is named after. Katherine was ambitious for herself and her daughter, Mary, who went on to be Queen of England. She understood her responsibility as Queen and Henry VIII's wife and ensured her duty came before everything else. She treated others with respect and was known for ruling with kindness and fairness. We are proud to share these values with Queen Katharine.
