We are currently looking for a Reception Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming primary school in Carlisle, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for someone passionate about early years education and supporting children with additional needs.

The school has recently welcomed a number of new pupils with diverse needs--including Autism, ADHD, and speech and language delays--and is looking for a dedicated, caring individual to provide both 1:1 and in-class support. You'll be working alongside a friendly, dynamic team in a setting where every child is seen, supported, and celebrated.

What You'll Be Doing:

Working closely with the classroom teacher to help deliver fun, engaging and inclusive lessons. Providing one-to-one and small group support for children with additional needs. Creating a nurturing and safe environment where children can grow emotionally, socially and academically. Supporting classroom routines, managing behaviour positively, and encouraging a love of learning through both indoor and outdoor play. Getting involved in school events and activities that support the holistic development of each child.

What We're Looking For:

Someone who genuinely loves working with young children, especially in EYFS or KS1. A passion for supporting children with Autism and other additional needs. Patience, empathy, and a warm, positive attitude. A basic understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum or willingness to learn. Relevant qualifications or the motivation to work towards them (we can help with that too!).

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
