Receptionist/Patient Care Advisor - Front-Line Role in General Practice
In this essential front-line role at the practice, Patient Care Advisors play a key part in helping patients access the right services, maintaining accurate health records, and ensuring appointments and prescriptions are well-managed. This is a patient-facing role, with demand primarily managed via footfall rather than telephone.

Main Responsibilities:
Welcoming and directing patients in person, ensuring a friendly and professional first impression.
Acting as the first point of contact for patients, providing guidance and support with empathy and discretion.
Managing appointments, queries, and patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
Processing, issuing, and handling prescription requests, ensuring they are dealt with efficiently and in line with practice protocols.
Liaising with clinical staff to support the smooth running of daily operations.
Handling requests for information and assisting with problem-solving and complaints.
Advising patients on practice procedures and services.
Registering new patients and updating records.
Maintaining patient databases, including summarising, filing, and scanning documentation.
Answering the telephone when required, though the role is primarily focused on face-to-face interactions.
About the Candidate

Strong IT and administration skills.
Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and work accurately under pressure.
Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is preferred.
Some flexibility is required, as you may occasionally need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
