Brief Description
Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. We support the Routes with a myriad of services and supplies they need to maintain and operate the railway. See the diagram for a breakdown of our services. This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving - making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video

About the role (External)
In this role you'll provide expert guidance and support to the Network Records Group and its system users. You'll lead the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of digital systems that manage records in various formats, including those containing safety-critical information.
What are the key accountabilities in this role?
1. Identify and quantify the requirements for information systems pertaining to records management. Prepare technical specifications and financial justification to procure equipment and services to deliver long-term benefits to the organisation. Develop associated standards, processes and work specifications.
2. Maintain the effective, safe and reliable operation of all technology by either direct service or through maintenance contracts. Implement appropriate first and second line maintenance contracts.
3. Act as project sponsor or manager for the national introduction of significant service enhancement schemes including the electronic management of records.
4. Develop Computer Aided design (CAD) procedures to industry best practice for the format and structure of supplied CAD files. Promote compliance with required standards.
5. Lead and direct the Records Centres in handling, preservation, storage and organisation of electronic records. Maintain data in accordance with all specifications and instructions.
6. Assess and identify training requirements to enable delivery and enhancements to customer service levels.
7. Lead the introduction and application of Configuration Management principles & technology.
What are the essential skills and experience we're looking for?
Educated to degree level or relevant experience.
Technical experience of CAD.
Technical experience of electronic document management systems.
Strong leadership and organisational skills.
Good presentation skills.
We would also like, but it's not essential:
Project management skills.
Financial control experience.

Location: This position is based at our National Records Group, York (minimum 60% office attendance).
Hours: 35 hours per week with hybrid working and limited travel as required. Flexible working can be considered.
Salary range: Band 3B, 46,701 - 55,411 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
