We have an exciting role on offer within our Public Health Service as a Recovery Housing Caseworker.
About Us
Working within Middlesbrough Council, our team supports individuals experiencing challenges related to substance use, domestic abuse, and homelessness.
This role provides flexible, trauma-informed advice and assistance around housing to those engaged with the drug and alcohol treatment service. While knowledge of substance use services is desirable, it is not essential -- a comprehensive training package will be provided to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Delivering a timely, proactive, trauma-informed service to help individuals make informed choices to meet their support needs.
Managing a caseload of individuals experiencing housing crises, ensuring systematic progress and minimising the duration of each crisis.
Interviewing applicants who approach the Council with housing needs, identifying actions to prevent homelessness and support them in remaining in their current accommodation or exploring alternative options.
Conducting statutory homelessness assessments in line with legislation, including eligibility, priority need, and intentional homelessness.
Creating and maintaining Personal Housing Plans (PHPs) tailored to individual circumstances, ensuring timely completion of agreed actions.
Keeping up-to-date with homelessness legislation, case law, government guidance, and local housing options including the rental sector and Choice Based Lettings. Supporting tenants with defence forms for Section 21 and other court proceedings, and attending court where appropriate.
Building and maintaining relationships with partners and providers, attending multi-agency meetings as required.
Conducting home visits within and outside the borough to investigate household circumstances.
Recording and monitoring data in line with policies, procedures, and statutory reporting requirements.
Participating in a duty rota, contributing to triage, assessment, and signposting tasks.
Working flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and some bank holidays, as part of a rota.
